Sell a Saint's Fingernail on Google Base, Go to Hell?

A coalition of Christians plans to boycott eBay until the company stops allowing its users to sell deceased saints' body parts.

The Los Angeles-based International Crusade for Holy Relics (ICHR), an independent group with about 200 members, will begin its boycott on All Saints Day, November 1.

According to BeliefNet, the boycott comes after years of discussions with eBay failed to rid the site of class-one relics, such as the bones, fingernail clippings and hair samples of venerable figures in Christian history.

The ICHR has no plans to boycott services comparable in function to eBay, such as Google Base, according to a representative. The purpose of the boycott is to "make people aware that the bones of saints are being sold," and that message extends to all who would traffic in such wares.

Google's terms of service for Google Base prohibit the sale of obscene or unlawful content. Google does not specifically prohibit the sale of holy body parts.

Pretty Boy Floyd :

You can really get "IT" on eBay.

crazyworld :

Selling relics of saints? What is this the Roman Empire? Seriously...next thing we will see is that there are fake relics and people will swear that certain objects have healing powers...wow my history instructors were correct, if we don't learn from history we are doomed to repeat it

JET :

It's already illegal to sell human body parts like bones & teeth. These Federal Laws were passed long ago in an attempt to cut down on grave desecration at Civil War Battlefields & Cemeteries. I think hair and fingernails are not included in those laws.

Brenda Harness :

Well, there was once quite a demand for the body parts of holy martyrs, but auctioning them off for money on eBay is obscene, if only in its extreme lack of propriety. We are in the 21st century, right?

It Is Prohibited :

Google Base Policies: Body parts Posting is not permitted for the promotion of body parts or human remains.

Brad :

wow my history instructors were correct, if we don't learn from history we are doomed to repeat it You mean George Santayana was right.

Google Watch :

A majority of Christians who use the Internet prefer Google search over Yahoo or MSN, according to a poll by ChristiaNet.com.
