Emboldened by its move to shutter its Chinese search engine and reroute its users to Google.hk, a Google policy official argued at a Congressional meeting on China that the U.S. government should help companies combat Internet censorship abroad because it stymies economic growth.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt struck up a rallying cry for free speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland today when he Google doesn't like the censorship and will pressure China to stop it. On another note, am I crazy or do I detect a subtle, but persistent undertone of condescension in the comments Google CEO Eric Schmidt makes regarding China?

Google Delays Launch of Android Phones in China

Reuters, the Associated Press and others said Google has postponed the launch of two Android phones. The delay comes one week after Google said it will stop censoring its Chinese search portal Google.cn and threatened to cease operations in the country entirely after it learned that its Gmail users were being targeted by Chinese hackers.
