Google Adds Themes for Personalized Homepage
Google may not be redesigning itself as Yahoo anytime soon, but it has started to offer some more personal touches to Google Personalized Homepage (GPH). Starting today you can choose from seven theme images to grace the top area of your GPH. The themes change appearances depending on the time of day in your zip code. As Greg Sterling notes over at Search Engine Land, the changes to GPH follow a flurry of activity among competing personal homepages—AOL recently launched MyNetscape; Pageflakes released "universal video widgets." The new MyYahoo launched. And yesterday Netvibes unveiled "Coriander," its latest release with new content modules. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the homepage idea. While I understand they're popular, I simply find it easier to have my feed reader and e-mail open in different tabs. |

I quite like my personalized Google Homepage - it gives me easy access to a few interesting feeds if I feel like surfing, and loads quickly so I can get away if I don't. Add in some useful widgets (like the Google Calendar integration) and it becomes an extremely good homepage.

I use google docs and spreadsheets, but at the top of the page where it has calendar, google, docs and spreadsheets, etc I would like my personalized hope page to be available with a click on the name instead of the classic google home page. Is there a way to do this?
