Google Releases Desktop for Mac
Google released a version of Desktop for Macs today. Some Mac users (not including this one), despite already having the use of the excellent Spotlight app, asked for a Mac version of the popular PC app. Google Desktop for Mac is only available for Intel-powered Macs. PowerPC users need not apply. Or they need to lay down some coin for a new computer. Desktop for Macs only offers search functions, not all those purty widgets the PC version offers. While both Spotlight and Desktop search your hard drive for files, Desktop lets you search deleted files or text from old versions of documents, search Gmail even when offline, and integrate results from your hard drive when searching on Google.com. |

I'm running the Desktop software on my PowerPC PBG4 with no problems so far, and no one ever warned me it was Intel-only in the installation procedure.
Also, if the redundancy with Spotlight is bad, then surely the "purty widgets" duplicating Dashboard would be worse.
