Google Advertises Motorola Droid on Its Home Page
In addition to celebrating the 40th anniversary of "Sesame Street" by placing Burt and Ernie where its Doodles would be, Google started promoting the new Motorola Droid, which launched today from Verizon Wireless (also available for purchase at Best Buy).

Note the blue button in the upper right-hand corner. What does that look like to you? That's right. It looks like a software download button, similar to the ones we've seen for Google Chrome and Google Sidewiki. It actually takes you to the Verizon Wireless Droid splash Web page. The link under it takes you to another Droid page that's hard on the eyes. Matt McGee over at Search Engine Land, whom I'll credit for pointing this out, asks whether or not this is an advertisement for Motorola and the Droid phone. I say: Hell yeah, Matt! Though I'd argue the emphasis is more on Verizon Wireless and the Droid than Motorola. But no matter. Journalists are scribbling madly about how the Droid will single-handedly save Motorola. It can and will, if people buy it. Google, too, has high hopes for the Droid, the first phone to feature its Android 2.0 operating system build and feature the Google Maps Navigation GPS service. I actually went to a Best Buy here in Connecticut Friday and hefted both a Droid and HTC Eris. I say "hefted" because Best Buy hadn't activated either one to let users play with. For shame! The Droid was a lot heavier in the hand, more so than my wife's Treo 750, which I thought was heavy enough. This didn't bother me, but my wife didn't like it. Actually, we both liked the way the Eris felt better. I am going to go back and try both when they're active. I want an Android phone, but if I don't think all of the bells and whistles on the Droid are worth it, I may go with the Eris, which is really nice. Have you given the Droid a whirl? Good catch on the google front page as far as I can remember it is a first for google nice to see the strong commitment to the success of the products.
Got the droid first thing this morning have been very impressed. Seriously look at the features of the two phones side by side not just putting them in your hands and figuring out that the droid weighs more to be exact 1.3 ounces about that of a good leather case. Just to scratch the surface for 100 dollars more you get 3.2 to 3.7 screen, physical key board, great GPS with turn by turn directions and live traffic monitoring at no charge drove over 100 miles today and was more impressed with it than any dedicated GPS unit I have used before including the one built into my Acura.
Very happy to have a great phone so I can stay with Verizon.

I haven't physically held either in my hand yet but I intend on getting the droid sometime next week after my iphone 3G sells on ebay. I just think it is a comparable phone on a better network, and Verizon's phones lineup will only continue to get larger as we enter 2010, and the age of fair iphone competition.

Yes I have tested both, I personally like the Eris better than the Droid. I think that the HTC sense UI gives it more a polished looked than the Droid. The Droid is rather cluncky device when I tested it. I want to like it but somehow it gives me a bitter experience after using it. It feels rather slow and slightly unresponsive to touch. Can't pinch and zoom but the D-pad is also good thing to have.

I'm posting from my droid and its lighter than my palm treo 700p. More powerful too. Motorola's stock needs to go up from the sales of this phone.

Oh, BUT I goto mobile.google.com (http://www.google.com/mobile/#p=default) and get a similar page--with an *iPhone*, BB, and HTC. Oh and goto youtube.com (big HTC advertisement).
So at this point, the accused ad appears either, hard to get to, or false?
FYI, tried both, the Droid has the horsepower to out-do the iPhone3GS, and the keyboard does work ok in the end, though flat.
The Eris (ended up getting that), kicks the iPhone 3G's butt, its size is *perfect*, its on par with the Palm Pre, and Sense UI is simply awesome. Hence, the HTC HD2 with WinMo Sense UI is going to rock.

Quality always comes at a price and we all recognize that in the world of Motorola, droid is top quality. To get there and to stay there demands higher efforts which includes the changes that must be made as the market evolves.

wow iPhone seems to find its competition, motorola has been a global brand for tough mobile phones, hope it hits the market in a bargain price and more features
